Biotopic is another company with a line of products specifically designed for hair loss and beard growth. Their line includes serums, shampoos and conditioners and the company claims that their products are natural. Today we decided to review the topical serum, which biotopic claims has DHT blockers and reduces shedding. We ordered a few bottles for the HGR team and consulted with Dr. Luna to analyze the ingredients in this serum to see if they backed these claims. There are a decent amount of hair growth stimulants in this serum including caffeine which studies have linked to hair growth. Natural anti-Inflammatory agents and DHT blockers such as saw palmetto and aloe vera are also present in this formula. This formula is further improved with the presence of argan oil and biotin which help with hair strength and reduce breakage. The shampoo is also free of sulfates and alcohol which could lead to scalp irritation. Overall, the formula is really strong with a good mix of natural ingredients to address the three pathways to alopecia.
Daily User Experience
We ordered several bottles of the serum from amazon for the HGR team to test and it was delivered very quickly. It came in a bottle that included a dropper in the bottlecap. The packaging could be improved a bit, but the bottle is pretty easy to carry around and store. Team members who tested this product did not report any scalp irritation or other major side effects. There were no reported issues with the scent or with the product leaving residue or buildup after usage. Some testers did report that it was somewhat sticky when applied, but it dried pretty quickly.
HGR testers tried this product for about 4 months before seeing results. For the testers who were still in the early stages of hair loss, there was some mild hair regrowth and a very notable reduction in shedding. Testers in the advanced stages of hair loss, also experienced minimal regrowth but pretty much no shedding. These results were further improved for testers in both groups who used this product in a comprehensive regimen with minoxidil, finasteride and a good hair loss shampoo. The hair regrowth was more pronounced in this group after 4 months of use.
At $32.95 for a 1oz bottle it is a little pricey for a topical treatment. Also HGR team members that tested this product daily had to get new ones because it ran out after 3 weeks. So it’s doesn’t really last for a whole month. However the Biotopic serum’s value is saved by the fact that it produces decent results, especially in a comprehensive regimen.
The Biotopic hair regrowth serum is definitely worth a try, especially in a comprehensive regimen. Dr. Luna recommends that this should be used for at least 4 months in combination with 5% minoxidil to see visible results. The presence of natural ingredients and the absence of alcohol, sulphates and other scalp irritants are also a plus.
