The HGR team came across this innovative topical from Club Roots after multiple customer recommendations. We decided to order to order a few bottles for every member of the team and test it out for 6 months.
At $25, Spark by Club Roots presents a great value relative to the price of other topical treatments on the market right now. Packaging and customer service have been superbly helpful.
Club Roots, the makers of Spark have branded the topical as ‘skincare for your scalp’. They claim the ingredients in this topical treatment will help with creating an optimal environment for your scalp to grow healthy hair. The product does seem to have a lot of quality ingredients that backs this claim by the company. One of the quality ingredients in this product is aminexil. While there aren’t a plethora of studies involving aminexil, all available studies have shown that aminexil may be effective for the treatment of alopecia and prevention of hair loss. Shown to have some hair regrowth potential. Caffeine is another ingredient which studies have shown to be effective for hair regrowth. Although we are unsure of the quantities, the presence of Adenosine and procyanidin B-2 are definitely good for the hair regrowth potential of this product. In addition to the great hair growth potential of this product, Resveratrol, a grape extract, is particularly great for its anti-inflammatory potential. Resveratrol has been shown in studies to suppress inflammation of the follicular unit, which is one of the pathways to losing hair. Finally spark also contains Lupine Protein which is a DHT blocker. In summary the ingredients in Spark seem to address the three major pathways to hair loss, which makes it a quality product.
Daily User Experience
Spark comes in a well designed and high quality container which makes it easy to store in your bathroom. It blends in well with other products the average person keeps in their bathroom. The product happens to have a very watery texture which makes it tough to apply by hand. However, we initially purchased droppers, and this made it a lot easier to get the product on our scalp. Club Roots, the manufacturer of this product also makes an accessory called the Hydrobrush, and it is a fantastic accessory that makes spark extremely easy to apply to all parts of the scalp. The product also has a very mild scent and is easy to clean up in the event of a spill. None of our team members noted any harsh side effects while using this product.
After several months of usage HGR team members who reviewed this product noticed thicker hair in areas that were thinning, particularly those in who were in the earlier stages of hair loss. For those in the latter stages of hair loss, as expected this product wasn’t as effective on it’s own and needed to be combined with a complete regimen.
This product produces great results and holds up well compared to the other topical treatments on the market. For $25 it is pretty good value as well, especially when you consider the fact that it comes in a 4oz bottle. A single bottle is expected to last about one month. Taking all this into consideration, the HGR team considers Spark to be great value for the money.
Spark is definitely worth trying. We’ll advise to use as directed for about 6 months to get the best results. Dr. Luna has also recommended this as great product in combination with 5% minoxidil.
